a journey through plays: BOOK CLUB 2026
6 plays. 6 new monologues. £6 per month.
You are invited to join a small cohort with Theatrabilia across
2026 as we explore six magnificent stage plays.
Throughout the year we will dive into six plays representing a wide range of styles and voices. From comedic monologues to sweeping historical dramas, we shall explore some of my favourite shows and share a response in monologue form, culminating in a private end of year showing.
Finding oneself within the work…
Theatre lifts a mirror to society. It shows us who we were, who we are now and who we may become. Monologues in particular are a rich platform to explore ourselves on stage.
We will spend time separately reading and researching a play before coming together and discussing our thoughts every other month. We will craft our own five minute monologues in response to the pieces, whether inspired by a character, moment or scene from the larger play. This will be a chance to gently learn and grow within a small and strong cohort of fellow theatre enthusiasts.
Perhaps you’ll discover new insights into your own life via the work you consume!
For £6.00 per month, you will receive:
-
A copy of the playtext to study every two months, delivered to your door or available to collect in person from Liskeard, Cornwall [a total of six play texts across 2026]
-
An opportunity to write and submit a five minute monologue in response to the play every other month
-
A bimonthly members’ meet up to share your thoughts about the work explored
-
Opportunity to have one of your monologues performed in an end of year showing
-
Access to a members’ only Facebook discussion forum
-
Access to members’ only Theatrabilia Instagram posts about the plays
Each play will be announced throughout the year - a bimonthly advent calendar of theatrical moments to lead us to December 2026 and the final showings.

FAQ’s
How do I pay?
Membership costs £6.00 per month for twelve months. Upon signing up via our website, you will receive an email containing a payment link. If you have any queries, please email me at theatrabilia@gmail.com.
How will I receive my copy of each play?
After signing up, please email me to let me know if you would like to receive a physical copy of the play in the post or if you would prefer to collect in person from the studio in Liskeard, Cornwall. I am also happy to arrange a Kindle copy if available.
Where will the meetings be held?
The member meet-ups will be held every other month either online via Zoom, in person at the Theatrabilia studio (Liskeard, Cornwall, United Kingdom) or both! The venue will be determined by who signs up and where members are located. Further details and dates to be announced.
Where will community members connect?
In addition to the meetings every other month, members are encouraged to join the private Theatrabilia Book Club Facebook group. The link to the Facebook group is provided in the welcome email upon completion.
I’m an international member - how do I arrange copies of plays in a different language?
Please email me at theatrabilia@gmail.com to discuss options. Please note - some playtexts may not currently have translations.
I’ve signed up. Do I need to pay for every play?
Please feel free to dip in and out of the project throughout the year. You will only be required to pay if you would like to join us and receive a copy of the bimonthly plays.
Will the plays be suitable for all ages?
No. Some of the selected plays for the reading group contain adult themes and strong language. Please be advised that this group is for members over the age of 18 only.
Will I receive feedback on my monologues?
After reading each play, you are invited to write and share a monologue in response to the play. Please note feedback is not guaranteed, but you are welcome to share your work with the group for comments and reflection.
I’ve never written a monologue before. Will I get support?
I am happy to guide members through the creation of their monologues if required. This may be in the form of a gentle, low-key conversation via email or Zoom to support my chronic illness. The monologue writing is designed to be an introduction to writing for the stage and requires no previous experience. It is an invitation without pressure.
When will the final monologue presentation be?
Currently, we aim to have a showing of selected monologues in December 2026. The style of the event will be determined based on how many participants submit work. Please note we will only have capacity for a limited number of monologue performances, but all entries will be considered. We will message you if we would like to reproduce any of your monologues on our social media sites. Any work you share will only be published with your prior permission.
Can I still join after the first play has been read?
Yes, you can join us at any point provided that we have spaces available. Maximum group capacity is 20, so join soon!
