Hi, hello, hey!
A variety of introductions there for your perusal, all amounting to a waste of both of our time. But hey, it’s got the word count up, and that’s something, right?
Sounds like a joke – as if I’m (probably quite rightly) mocking my way of racking up a larger word count in a contrived manner. But hear me out… (‘hear me out’ is becoming a frequent phrase in my writing. I say frequent, it’s been twice, but that seems a lot to me.)
Because writing has been slow lately. Very slow. Almost non-existent. So the ridiculous words to populate this page are actually a godsend. They’re a joy to type. What might come next? ‘Jovial’. That’s a nice word. ‘Giraffe’. There’s another. I like giraffes; so tall and majestic, yet quiet, gentle and humble. Definitely up there in my top five animals.
Here we are again, more aimless rambling. But do you see? It isn’t a waste of time! In fact, it’s the best use of my time this week thus far. No, not just this week – this month. Firstly, you now know about my love of giraffes. Secondly, rambling about giraffes might seem pathetic, but it’s pretty damn amazing to reintroduce my fingers to keyboard, pen to paper. I actually started to forget what this felt like. And it’s incredible! Even more so on my sexy (relatively) new laptop. It’s a pleasure to type on, the keys make a lovely clicking sound and it feels as though my fingers just glide across the keyboard. What a dream.
So, this post might be, on surface level, a load of absolute rubbish. But it’s beautiful rubbish! For it is something! And something is what I had very little of 277 words ago.
If you're struggling to pick up pace - or even re-introduce yourself to writing after a period of claustrophobic drought, I highly recommend simply splashing ideas, ramblings, musings onto a piece of paper, or a blog post such as this, and running with it. You never know what it might lead to. I'll probably write a play about giraffes now. That might be a pain in the neck though. A tall order indeed.
There might be very little I can use going forward within the actual text of this post, but wow, it’s been nice to reacquaint myself with words and barely acceptable sentence construction.
Welcome back, me. Nice to see you.
Haha. Lovely. I’m glad this has been some silly fun for you and I hope that it inspires you to firstly not be so hard on yourself (yes I did just say hard on) and secondly gets you writing again, even just a little bit x
